Dr John F. Mueller

After writing his PhD in History at the University of Cambridge under Regius Professor Sir Richard Evans, John launched into a portfolio career, combining history, heraldry and fundraising.
John's heraldic work includes designing new coats of arms, identifying historic ones and producing heraldic stationery, porcelain and other everyday items. He is supplier of all things heraldic to royalty, aristocracy, clergy and universities.
He is a founder-member of the Heraldic Institute, and is currently serving the Institute as its Director. John is also a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Knight of the Order of Saint Michael of the Wing.
He is a regular contributor to Country Life magazine, which he enjoys enormously.
John and his historic research featured in two television documentaries. A highly-rated German public television documentary in April 2019 and a three-part documentary on the TESCO founder Sir Jack Cohen broadcast in June 2021 on Channel 5 in the UK. His lbook The Kaiser, Hitler and the Jewish Department Store for Bloomsbury Academic was out in May 2022, with a paperback published November 2023.
John is a Bye-Fellow at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge and served the College as Director of Studies in History and History & Politics.
He has worked as a professional fundraiser for the University of Cambridge and has volunteered for several charitable organisations, including the Order of St John, the LM Kendon Settlement, the League of Mercy and organisations of the Church of England.

Nach seiner Promotion in Geschichte an der Universität Cambridge bei Regius Professor Sir Richard Evans begann John eine Karriere, die Geschichte, Heraldik und Fundraising miteinander verbindet.
Johns heraldische Arbeit umfasst den Entwurf neuer Wappen, die Identifizierung historischer Wappen und die Herstellung von heraldischem Briefpapier, Porzellan und anderen Alltagsgegenständen. Er beliefert Könige, Adelige, Geistliche und Universitäten mit allem, was mit Wappen zu tun hat.
Er ist Gründungsmitglied des Heraldischen Instituts und dient dem Institut derzeit als dessen Direktor. John ist außerdem Fellow der Royal Historical Society und Ritter des Ordens des Heiligen Michael vom Flügel.
Er schreibt regelmäßig und leidenschaftlich gerne für die Zeitschrift Country Life.
John und seine historischen Forschungen waren in zwei Fernsehdokumentationen zu sehen. Eine hoch bewertete Dokumentation des deutschen öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehens im April 2019 und eine dreiteilige Dokumentation über den TESCO-Gründer Sir Jack Cohen, die im Juni 2021 auf Channel 5 im Vereinigten Königreich ausgestrahlt wurde. Sein Buch The Kaiser, Hitler and the Jewish Department Store (Der Kaiser, Hitler und das jüdische Kaufhaus) für Bloomsbury Academic wurde im Mai 2022 veröffentlicht, das Taschenbuch erschien im November 2023.
